Conference posters are a a visual method to present your research. Due to the limited space of a poster and the visual nature, a conference poster allows you to really focus on the key key elements and messages of your research. Including graphic elements such as graphs, flowcharts and other visual aids, conference posters can effectively share your research with the research community and beyond.

Poster Templates

Monash Health conference poster templates can be downloaded and edited to suit your requirements. Choose from PowerPoint or Canva formats below.

  • Access to the Canva templates requires a Canva PRO account OR a free Canva account created using an email address outside of the monashhealth.org domain, such as @gmail.Contact the library if you need assistance.
  • Sign up for a Canva account at canva.com  - Note: Monash Health does not have a Canva institutional licence.

Printing

You may need to have your poster professionally printed. Options to consider:

  • Allanby Press
    • Allanby Press can handle the printing and delivery of your poster, with the cost being charged to your department's cost centre. Please sales@allanbypress.com.au the details of your poster, including size, number of copies, cost centre code, and delivery address.
  • Officeworks
    • Oficeworks can print in A0 and B0  in standard colours and board mounted posters. Water resistant polypropylene fabric can be printed on up to size A0. Payment would need to be made by an individual at the time of order.

Using Canva Guide

Visual abstracts or graphical abstracts are an alternative way to quickly and effectively communicate your findings. Rather than detailing the study and the results in a textual format, visual abstracts condense the information to an easy to read and quick to understand visual format.


Below are some other templates and tools that allow you to design and create you own poster or visual abstract.

Different tools are available to design posters and abstracts . These tools include various options to depict information and formats to present it.

Adobe Create Online suite of tools for creating graphics and online posters. High costs to access all functionality
Canva Online graphic design tool that can be used to make presentations, posters, charts, QR codes, videos and more. Free version has limited functionality
Microsoft suite Available on Monash Health devices for posters, presentations and graphics. Does not have the range of features to edit and create objects compared to other programs.
Mind the Graph Online tool for creating visual abstracts and infographics Limited number of designs available under free account
Visme Online tool that uses AI generated images and visuals to create presentations, infographics and more. Free version has limited options to change templates
VistaCreate Online tool to create presentations  Free version has limited functionality


Recommended resources:

Image and colour choice are key parts of visual communication. The quality of the image impacts on the readability and understanding of your information. High contrast and easily readable colours improve the understanding of your findings.

Colour

Colour choices influence the readability and influences the success of your poster or visual abstract to convey your message. The list of tools below allow you to pick sucessful colour combinations.
