Insights from Library Journals

Read our full-text journals in BrowZine.

  • A novel Swedish study investigated ghrelin’s effects on decision-making beyond food or drug rewards. The authors concluded that ghrelin did not affect sensitivity to monetary rewards, but did impact loss aversion and discounting rates.

  • Mobile apps with anaphylaxis emergency action plans could potentially replace or supplement paper-based plans. However, current apps lack definitive advice for patients and carers on whether or not to administer epinephrine.

  • Discussing an association between menopause symptoms and adverse work outcomes, this paper recommends increased workplace support, such as employer training to increase awareness and improve communication surrounding the topic.

  • Implementation of a referrals toolkit increased junior doctors’ confidence and speed in making referrals, and improved discharges on the ward. The accompanying referral cheat sheet has been downloaded by JMS around the world.

  • Although ischemic preconditioning has some beneficial effects in patients undergoing liver resection, there is insufficient evidence to support its routine use, according to a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective randomised trials.
